The white-painted Cycladic houses against green and deep blue backgrounds present a very practical construction for preserving coolness in their interior, and have inspired Australian industrial designers and researchers to incorporate the island design into their new projects.

What ordinary people have known for hundreds of years has now become a scientific revelation, according to a recent study conducted by the University of Melbourne.
According τo the study, white-painted roofs on houses are an essential source of saving energy.
Melbourne mayor Robert Doyle presented the findings of the study, and commented that contemporary and future buildings could benefit from this innovation. According to Mr. Doyle, the perfect case for the employment of “white” technology is the Airport of Melbourne.
