Zoe Kazan Pens First Screenplay With ‘Ruby Sparks’

Zoe Kazan, the granddaughter of Hollywood filmmaking legend and Greek-American Elia Kazan, has written her first screenplay, “Ruby Sparks,” which had its US release in theaters at the end of July.
The young screenwriter began her career as an actress, appearing in numerous films including “Fracture,” alongside Ryan Gosling, and “I Hate Valentine’s Day” with Nia Vardalos.
“Ruby Sparks” is a romantic comedy about a novelist who imagines up a beautiful girlfriend after suffering from a case of writer’s block. Kazan’s real-life boyfriend Paul Dano plays the lead character, and Zoe plays the title character of Ruby Sparks. The film also stars Antonio Banderas and Annette Bening, and is directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris, who also both did “Little Miss Sunshine.”
“Ruby Sparks” will be released in theaters throughout the world until November. A full list of scheduled dates is available on the film’s IMDB page: http://www.imdb.com
