The Troika insists on sacking people!

Reserve what?

Critical contacts are being held between ministers and the Troika since early morning, since the latter must have finished their evaluation until Monday. A meeting between Finance Minister Ev. Venizelos and Minister Dimitris Reppas is under way, after the Troika representatives departed a while ago.

Auditors seek convincing answers on the payroll, reserve and redundancies included in the bill being prepared by the Ministers.

The meeting took place at the offices of the Vice Presidency, on Zalokosta Street, since both respective Ministries are blockaded by employees.

On the hot topic of redundancies – reserves, the scenarios under scrutiny are:

-All employees which have completed their pensionable years are forced to go on retirement and will remain in service until 2 years have passed, based on last year’s arrangement of the Labour Ministry.

-To qualify for reserve status, and hence ASEP’s evaluation, with the payment of 60% of their basic salary for 1 or 2 years for all employees which need the corresponding years to retire.

-To qualify for reserve status for employees hired during the last decade outside ASEP since 2000. The difficulties this scenario poses are that the process of “tenure” of at least some employees recruited outside the ASEP went through the organization’s process after Presidential Decree 164/2009 of former Interior Minsiter Pr. Pavlopoulos.
