British tour operator Thomas Cook tries to justify its decreased incomes with the financial crisis in Greece. They report that Germans’ bookings to Greece were down by 20% year after year due to political upheaval. And the British company added that, “if Greece exits the Eurozone, this would be very profitable for the tourism industry.” The reason is that British travelers -mostly families - have to deal with financial problems as well, and if Greece goes bankrupt, they could enjoy cheap vacations to Greece.
Despite these remarks, Greek tourism agents understand that the country’s international image is not perfect and try to offer cheap packages to possible visitors.
