Brown bear awareness in downtown Thessaloniki

Members of the NGO Arcturos, in an attempt to raise awareness amongst pupils and pre-schoolers on the protection of forests and wildlife, in general, are holding a daily "brown bear Christmas bazaar" in downtown Thessaloniki until Dec. 14. Young visitors to the Hirsch Arcade in downtown Thessaloniki are welcomed by volunteers from the group, dressed in bear suits, and given a tour of a specially designed bear habitat, amongst others. The brown bear in Greece is an endangered species.
