Nominees for the 69th Golden Globe Awards


  1. George Clooney

    George Clooney stars as a man struggling to keep his family together in "The Descendants." The actor received a Golden Globe Award nomination on Thursday, Dec. 15, for best actor in a drama. The film was also nominated for best drama and Clooney was also nominated for best director for his work on "The Ides of March." (Fox Searchlight)
  2. Brad Pitt

    Brad Pitt received a Golden Globe nomination for best actor in a drama for his work in "Moneyball." Pitt portrays Billy Beane, the general manager of the Oakland A's baseball team, in the film. (Columbia Pictures)
  3. Leonardo DiCaprio

    Leonardo DiCaprio's portrayal of FBI boss J. Edgar Hoover in "J. Edgar" earned him a best actor in a drama nomination. (Warner Bros.)
  4. Viola Davis

    "The Help" received five Golden Globe nominations and actress Viola Davis, here as Aibileen Clark, is leading the charge with a best actress in a drama nod.   5. Meryl Streep

    Meryl Streep stars as former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in her new film "The Iron Lady." The perennial favorite received a best actress in a drama nomination. (The Weinstein Company)
  6. 'Bridesmaids'

    The box-office hit "Bridesmaids" received a best picture, musical or comedy nomination. Kristen Wiig, rear left, scored a nod for best actress in a musical or comedy, but critical darling Melissa McCarthy, front right, was among the noteworthy snubs. (Universal Pictures)
  7. Jean Dujardin, Berenice Bejo

    "The Artist" stars Jean Dujardin, as George Valentin, and Berenice Bejo, as Peppy Miller, both received acting nominations for their work in the silent film, which led all contenders with six nods. (The Weinstein Company)
  8. Michelle Williams

    Michelle Williams received a best actress in a musical or comedy nod for her portrayal of screen siren Marilyn Monroe in "My Week with Marilyn." The film also received a best picture nomination and supporting actor Kenneth Branagh was recognized. (The Weinstein Company)
  9. 'The Adventures of Tintin'

  13. 'Modern Family'

    ABC's "Modern Family" will be taking on "Enlightened," HBO; "Episodes," Showtime; "Glee," Fox; and "New Girl," Fox, in the Golden Globe category of best TV series, musical or comedy. (ABC)
  14. Zooey Deschanel

    Actress Zooey Deschanel stars as Jess in the new Fox comedy "New Girl" and her work received a best actress nomination along with the show's nod. (Fox)
  15. Johnny Galecki

    Johnny Galecki is Leonard on "The Big Bang Theory." The actor received a nomination in the musical or comedy category. (CBS)
  16. 'Downton Abbey'

    PBS' period ensemble drama "Downton Abbey," set during WWI at an English estate, is nominated for best television miniseries or movie. It's up against "Cinema Verite," HBO; "The Hour," BBC America; "Mildred Pierce," HBO; and "Too Big to Fail," HBO. (PBS)
  17. Claire Danes

    Claire Danes stars as Carrie Mathison, a C.I.A. officer with suspicions about a Marine who is rescued in Afghanistan after spending eight years in captivity, on the Showtime series "Homeland." Danes received a best actress in a TV drama nomination. Actor Damian Lewis and the show are also nominated. (Showtime)
  18. Peter Dinklage

    Actor Peter Dinklage is Tyrio Lannister in the HBO series "Game of Thrones." He received a supporting actor nomination along with the show's best drama nod. (HBO)
