Work in Australia with nothing but a tourist visa!

Unemployment will thus be reduced...

The right to work for Greeks under 30 years of age, when travelling to Australia on a tourist visa, is being looked into by the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Greece, which has already initiated the necessary procedures with the Australian authorities.

The deal is expected to be similar to the one signed between Australia and Canada in May 2011, while the possibility relating to tourists visiting New Zealand is also being studied.

As the Diaspora newspaper “Neos Kosmos” states, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already initiated the necessary procedures concerning the right to work for Greeks travelling to Australia on a tourist visa.

This comes as the result of a document published on the Greek Parliament website, signed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Stravros Lambrinidis, following a question raised by LAOS members Ioannis Korantis and Adonis Georgiadis.

Mr. Lambrinidis stated that the ministers of Greece have begun the procedure in order to reach an agreement on Greeks arriving to Australia and not exceeding 30 years of age. The minister also made sdtatements about the contribution of expatriates in Australia, who have come in contact with the relevant departments in order to find solutions to any problems that Greek citizens may face when they wish to emigrate to Australia, including the possibility of investigating the labor market of the country.
