Barrage of shutdowns by known firms

Clothing brand faces cash flow problem

The economic dead-end that is exacerbated in recent days due to international pressure and inaction for resolution of the collection problems in our country, bring a barrage of bankruptcies and business inclusions under Article 99.

More specifically, and as protothema.gr is informed, a major car dealership and a well-known construction company with projects in the public sector too, are preparing a request for inclusion into article 99. While a large group in the jewelry sector with a branch in the centre of Athens has proceeded to debt settlement just moments before being entered into the article. Meanwhile, a well-known clothing firm with imports from Italia is facing cash flow problems, while tens of businesses are thinking of further decreasing their branch numbers.

In any case, the total of the market did not welcome Papandreou’s announcement at the TIF, seeing that the economic dead-end keeps on coming. In his statements today, the president of EBEA Konstantinos Michalos said that "the country is closer than ever to going back to the drachma", while the distress in leading representatives of major businesses is great for the climate of "terrorism" which they say was developed in Thessaloniki.

For their part, representatives of the National Confederation of Greek Commerce are thinking of a general closure of their businesses in September, as a way of protesting against the emergency measures, while SEV is soon expected to proceed to announcements of its positions, talking about bankrupt politics and a foreseeable risk of returning to the drachma.
