Syriza leader Alexis Tsipras poses with film director Oliver Stone (AMNA) American film director Oliver Stone and Slovenian philosopher Slavoj Zizek on Wednesday expressed their support for Syriza leader Alexis Tsipras during Zagreb's 6th Subversive Festival.

Stone, known for his politically oriented films, told reporters that Tsipras is Greece's hope, adding that he will make a huge difference not only in Greece but in the whole of Europe and possibly in the whole world. “I wish Alexis good luck,” Stone said, “he's going to need it”, adding that he believes Tsipras will make it.
Speaking to reporters, Tsipras said he has seen all the movies of Oliver Stone, "especially Platoon". "It  has to do with the Vietnam war... today we have a different war, it is not a military war but an economic war," Tsipras said.
Tsipras will be in Croatia for two days as a guest speaker at the festival and on Thursday he is scheduled to hold a meeting with Stone, who was presented with a lifetime achievement award on Sunday.
The main coalition leader is scheduled to speak in a forum entitled “The role of the European left” on Wednesday night, together with Zizek, a regular guest of the festival.
Zizek, who openly supports Tsipras, referred to rumours that he is Tsipras' secret counsellor, saying that he looks forward to undertaking that role.
Earlier in the day Tsipras met with Crotian president Ivo Josipovic.
The Subversive Festival, which features a theoretical part with conferences as well as film screenings, attracts annually many prominent figures as guest speakers and receives international coverage.
