Tourism Minister Promotes Greece at Dutch Tourism Fair “Vakantiebeurs 2012″

Greek Culture and Tourism Minister George Nikitiadis visited the Dutch Tourism Fair “Vakantiebeurs 2012” (11-15 January 2012) held in Utrecht, in order to expand Greece’s share in the tourism market of The Netherlands.

During his stay Mr. Nikitiadis met with major tour operators that work in Greece and discussed conditions required to increase arrivals from The Netherlands, since arrivals from the Dutch market to Greece have decreased in the past five years.
In his interviews with the local media, Mr. Nikitiadis referred to the long friendly relations between Greece and The Netherlands and emphasized that Greece annually imports Dutch products worth 2.5 billion Euros. He also put emphasis on the fact that the Greek state’s interest in maintaining the strong ties between the two countries is evidenced by the 15 schools in Greece where the Dutch language is taught.
The Deputy Minister visited all Greek stands of the Fair and spoke with the representatives of major tourist attractions about the steps that need to be taken, so that Dutch tourists will be attracted by the tourist products Greece has to offer.
After completing his contacts, Mr. Nikitiadis expressed his optimism that the Dutch market will again orient towards Greece in the future.
