Greece Most Popular Holiday Destination for Austrian

According to the Austrian Newspaper ‘Osterreich’, Austrians prefer to visit Greece for the holidays despite Greece’s economic turmoil. Greece ranks 2nd, after Spain, amongst most popular holiday destinations for Austrians.
In 2011, many Austrian tourists visited Greece, with a tourism increase of 10% compared to last year’s Austrian visits to Greece.
Representatives of the biggest Austrian travel organisations and businesses, as well as the Austrian press in related reports, highlight Greece as first choice in the Austrians’ preferences for holidays abroad this year.
Greece has had one of the top positions for many years amongst Austrians’ countries of destination, thereby obtaining a large share of the Austrian tourist market, and then conducting organized trips to further entice incoming Austrian tourists.

Greece is also considered a safe and politically stable tourist destination that meets the needs of families for holidays. Austria, considering its population of eight million, is in first place with regard to foreign tourist arrivals in Greece, while the Austrians are considered the most “loyal” visitors of our country, bearing country size in mind, since their numbers have been increasing continuously in past years.
The upcoming International Tourism Exhibition of Vienna (on the 12th of January), in which Greece is going to participate, will undoubtedly serve as a barometer concerning the situation in the Austrian tourism market.
