The oil-dollar is coming…
A bilateral meeting will be
held in Lagonissi on Wednesday and Thursday regarding investments in Greece,
in the presence of senior government officials of the United Arab Emirates
– specifically the foreign minister of the oil producing country His
Excellency Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zeayed - and a crowd of managers from
leading companies in the country such as Masdar, the Abu Dhabi Fund
for Development, Etihad, etc.
Information on protothema.gr mentions that after the contacts in Abu Dhabi, talks between the two countries had been frozen for quite some time, so this new contact is taking place mainly because of the Arab interest, and not so much because of Greek diplomacy. Indeed, the Arab side saw investment opportunities in our country, but the frequent changes at the level of ministers and the government's recession did not favor a constructive dialogue.
One of the interesting aspects of the Arab visit is the arrival of representatives of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company. Our information indicates that this company is to explore potential opportunities from the competition for oil research in western Greece and initiate talks on energy issues.
The Greek side will be represented by vice president Theodoros Pangalos, foreign minister Stavros Dimas, development minister Michalis Chrysochoidis and Paul Geroulanos. It should be stressed that the Arab representation is at a very high level and for this reason there may be further announcements outside the usual "tea and sympathy" ones.
