The cabinet approved 30.000 layoffs

Crucial decisions

The cabinet has approved 30.000 layoffs from the narrow and wider public sector and the draft includes three stages of implementation. The first stage includes employees from the wider public sector who will withdraw through the redundancy procedure, receiving part of their salary for one year.

The second stage is for employees of the narrow public sector who are close to retirement, and from now on enter a state of pre-pension status, having 12-24 months to retire. The government estimates that 18.000-20.000 employees will withdraw from these two stages.

As for the rest that will be more than 6.000, they will withdraw after the elimination of certain positions, while another 1.000 after the elimination of organizations.
