New Public Opinion Poll By PULSE Shows Golden Dawn In 3rd Place

A new public opinion poll by PULSE and conducted on behalf of the weekly political-satirical newspaper "To PONTIKI" which was released on Thursday, showed that although the conservative New Democracy dropped to 25 percent from 29.7 percent in June, as did the leftist SYRIZA party by nearly 3 percentage points, to 24 percent, the far-right party Golden Dawn rose to reach 10.5 percent, up nearly 4 percentage points since the June elections.

The news that PASOK dropped to fourth place with 8 percent of the vote, while the other government ally, Democratic Left, saw support shrink nearly 2 percentage points to 4.5 percent, did not really come as a surprise, as it was more or less expected.

Here are the results according to the poll:
  • New Democracy - 22.5% (25% last poll) compared to 29.7% (June 17 elections).
  • SYRIZA  - 21.5% (24%) compared to 26.9%.
  • Golden Dawn - 9.5% (10.5%) compared to 6.9%.
  • Independent Greeks - 6% (6.5%) compared to 7.5%.
  • PASOK - 7.5% (8%) compared to 12.3%.
  • DIMAR - 4% (4.5%) compared to 6,3%.
  • Communist Party of Greece - 4.5% (5%) compared to 4.5%.
  • Other parties - 6,5% (7%) compared to 6% (among them ANTARSYA -an anti-capitalist extreme left party-, Ecologists-Greens and Creation Again-Action -a hard line neoliberal party- reached 1% each.
