Bloomberg Features Peter Nomikos’ Initiative “Greece Debt Free”

Greece Debt Free has captured international press attention during the past ten days. Greek media as well the Wall Street Journal, the Spiegel and recently Bloomberg have featured shipping family heir Peter Nomikos’ initiative to cancel Greece’s debt.
The GDF calls on Greeks living abroad to contribute financially in order to “buy up and forgive Greek debt.” Peter Nomikos “aims to tap the Greek diaspora to help reduce the Greek national debt,” reports Bloomberg.
Peter Nomikos’ friend, businessman and shipowner Vangelis Marinakis who owns the Greek football club of Olympiacos is the first and biggest sponsor of the GDF.
“Still, the source of some donations may be unexpected: the Facebook page for GDF says more than 30 percent of donations so far are from Germany,” concludes the Bloomberg editor.
