Regency Casino Mont Parnes Will Probably Shut Down Permanently

The famous Regency casino Mont Parnes was suddenly shut down by its owners. The casino, which had been functioning for years within the National Reserve of Parnetha was closed for unknown reasons and for an unspecified time period. It could be a permanent shutdown, but that remains to be formally announced by the owning firm. The International Regency Corporation, which had been operating the casino, and also that of Thessaloniki, has reportedly decided to leave Greece for good.
1150 employees went on strike, asking for their job contracts which are bound to expire on June 6 to be renewed… what an outrageous demand! That was, as reported, the reason why the owning firm proceeded to suspend the casino’s operation.
Regency no longer belongs to the Greek state, and its alleged financial problems led the state to that “painful” decision. The casino’s revenue has dropped significantly due to the deepening financial crisis, so it has suspended its operation until further notice.
