Real Greek or British Humor? Restaurant Lets Customers to Pay in Drachma

One London restaurant encouraged its customers to pay in old Greek currency, the Drachma. A currency that has not been around since euro coins and banknotes were introduced to the country on January 1st, 2002.  “Real Greek” restaurant operation manager  Christos Karatzenis offered customers the option to pay for a starter dish in Drachmas.
TRG Operations Manager, Christos Karatzenis, explained more: “With Greece’s economical worries being such a big focus in the news at the moment, we thought we’d lighten the mood by letting diners pay with the old drachma they having lying around.
“Greece is making progress but it’s far from out of the woods, and with financial experts saying 2012 will be the decider as to whether we should return to the Drachma or not, it seemed like the appropriate time to let customers raid their ‘man drawers’ and put their old Drachma to good use.”

According to UK  Eat Out Magazine, Karatzenis had this special offer from April 23rd to April 28th on the table.
Then either his customers run out of Drachmas or the offer did not find the expected …food back.
PS I’m waiting for a special offer from any Chouzi-restaurant in Baghdad. I have two 100 Iraqi dinars banknotes with Saddam’s face on them :)
