In his statement in “Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung”, the director of the travel agency also explains that prices in Greece have not been reduced due to the heavy increase in taxes.
“Someone could assume that prices in Greece have dropped. But the country has not become cheaper, because hotel owners have to pay more taxes”, he points out, and adds that Germans tend to avoid Greece, because they confuse Rhodes with Athens and believe that demonstrations occur everywhere and are triggered by the general dislike against Germany, due to the harsh austerity policy that Greeks tend to accuse Angela Merkel of pushing.
“That is not the real picture though. No other counrty is as hospitable as Greece” he states in the German newspaper.
