Strong Greek Presence at 2012 AACTA Awards

‘The Slap’ series, based on the book of Greek-Australian writer Christos Tsiolkas, won the Best Screenplay In Television award during the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards that were held on Tuesday night.
Moreover, Alex Dimitriades won the AACTA Award for Best Lead Actor in a Television Series for his role in ‘The Slap’.
Many Australian actors attended the Aussie Oscars, where the ‘Red Dog’ (Nelson Woss, Julie Ryan) nominated the best film.
The film ‘Snowtown’, a true story about a Greek-Australian serial killer, won three awards. The film features Australia’s worst serial killer in history, John Bunting, who along with a small group of coerced friends, tortured, killed, and dismembered 12 known people, as seen on Crime Investigation Australia.
