Nick Gage celebrates Eleni Gage's first novel "Other Waters."
NEW YORK – Book parties are becoming a frequent occurrence in
the Greek American community. The reception marking the publication of
Eleni Gage’s first novel “Other Waters” was the first of two in
Manhattan this week.
“Other Waters” follows the story of “a young Indian-American doctor,
Maya Das, who is caught between two very different worlds – the
ostensibly scientific Western culture that guides her everyday life as a
medical practitioner, and the faith-based Eastern tradition of her
heritage, in which the mystical belief in curses, prayers, gods and
goddesses is as real as medical knowledge,” according to a release from
St. Martin’s Press.
