Catherine Plessa-Cramer is the first Greek woman who ever came to Australia. She was born in the ‘courtyard’ of Ali Pasha’s palace, engaged to Ioannis Kolettis (former PM of Greece), and finally married to the war veteran of Waterloo, Cramer. Together they came to Sydney in 1835 by boat.
An event will be held on the occasion of the 99th anniversary of the Yiannena Liberation, under the auspices of Epirotic Federation of Oceania, during which Professor Panagiotis Diamantis will hold a lecture on the life of Catherine Cramer.
Finally, Patricia Cramer will be another speaker of the event, as she is the last descendant of the Cramer family.
