Extreme weather phenomena on Epiphany day

Temperature records a considerable decrease

Galewinds of up to 10 on the Beaufort scale are to sweep through Greece, along with rain and thunderstorms, mainly on Epiphany day, January 6.

The deterioration will be seen first in the north-west of the country and will later reach other areas, too. Also, on the mountains snowfall will be persistent, especially in western and central Macedonia and even in low altitude areas.

Saturday will be “gloomy” for Macedonia, Thrace, the Aegean islands, the Cyclades and the Dodecanese, where an improvement is to be seen after the weekend. Nevertheless winds will be persistently strong, reaching 9 Beaufort.

As for the temperature, it is to remain very low even as we move into the coming festive weekend.
