Some Jobless Greeks Seek Work In “Film” Production?

Students, family fathers and even civil servants desperately seek means to improve their collapsed income. There is not cash in the market and and the jobs offering almost at zero. Now a Greek weekly claims that the “sensual film production” seems to be a good alternative to earn some money and cover basic needs.

According to weekly Eleftheros Typos, thousands of unemployed men and women send their CVs to companies producing “sensual DVDs” after the economic crisis broke out. During the last year, 2,500 applications were submitted with job-seekers outlining their personal stories and explaining the great need they have for cash.
” 80% -90% of the approximately 2,000 resumes that reached our company is from Greek men and women,” spokesman of a local sensual film productions company told Eleftheros Typos, noting that until 2010 the majority of  resumes were submitted by foreigners.
The remuneration for the protagonist of a sensual film starts from €1,000 for each scene and can reach €3,000-4,000 if the ‘actor’ is well-known.
The tragic is that people turning to this solution are not the ones seeking temporary fame and easy money, but desperate fellow citizens, in dire need of money, fired and unemployed, while the porn industry is lurking…” the newspaper concludes. Source: Eleftheros Typos via news portal
Many internet users lashed out at this report as ‘naive’ and bad researched and rather a commercial ad for the local film company that seek to exploit the jobless. Quite some commentators also did not believe that the said company pays so much money for ‘talented’ wannabe actors. Furthermore 2,000 applications in a total of 800K people without job is a tiny drop. And the job is part-time, I guess. But there could be a corn of truth.
