London, 5th December 2011: The Romanos, a Luxury Collection Resort, Costa Navarino, has marked the end of a very successful year by featuring in Condé Nast Traveller’s annual Gold List. Located in Costa Navarino (www.costanavarino.com), the prime, sustainable destination in the Mediterranean, The Romanos Resort was recognised in the category ‘Best Hotels for Leisure Facilities’.
This comes as part of a great year for The Romanos Resort, which was also named ‘Favourite Overseas Leisure Hotel: Europe, Asia Minor and the Russian Federation’ at the Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Travel Awards 2011 and adds to the significant list of accolades received by Costa Navarino, since the destination was launched in May 2010.
The Gold List, now in its ninth year, is recognised as the definitive list for the best hotels in the world and is compiled by the travel experts at Condé Nast.
The Romanos Resort, part of Navarino Dunes, the first area in Costa Navarino, is commended in the list for its luxurious rooms and suites, wide selection of restaurants and further leisure options. Facilities include the 4,000sq.m. Anazoe Spa – offering signature treatments combining ancient Greek medicine with modern science, utilising the area’s unique revitalising ingredients - and an extensive variety of indoor and outdoor sports, including its Racquet Academy.
Set amidst a landscape of lush olive groves and indigenous trees, in the region of Messinia, southwest Peloponnese, The Romanos Resort offers unobstructed views of the Ionian sea, whilst many of the hotel’s accommodations feature individual infinity pools. The Romanos Resort’s beachfront 660sq.m. Royal Villa Koroni which offers guests a 24-hour dedicated butler service, has been awarded for its design.
Further facilities for guests at Navarino Dunes, Costa Navarino – which is also home to The Westin Resort, Costa Navarino- include The Dunes Course. Designed by Bernhard Langer and EGD, it is Greece’s first signature golf course. Along with the recently opened The Bay Course, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and located in the nearby Navarino Bay area, the two courses create a new golf destination for visitors to enjoy in every season.
Specially designed areas for engaging children creatively, various restaurants, lounge areas, retail and entertainment options are also available. Sports enthusiasts can choose from a list of aquatic activities, such as wind surfing, kite-surfing, diving and kayaking, or outdoor pursuits including mountain biking and hiking. Guests staying at The Romanos Resort are encouraged to participate in traditional activities ranging from olive-oil and wine-making to home cooking with local women, discovering the rich cultural heritage of the Messinian region.
