Justice prosecutes businessman Yiorgos Petzetakis

Due to his debts

A shocking truth, an even more shocking sum of money. Businessman Yiorgos Petzetakis who owes 2.1 million euros to the Greek state, was arrested Tuesday and came before the district attorney earlier on Wednesday charged for unpaid taxes to the Greek tax office.

What the businessman owes amounts to 2.1 million euros but he says the sum concerns the period between the years 2007-2010,  during which time he was not the president of the business thus he was not responsible it. Moreover, he said that the company had faced serious operational issues that made it even harder for him to pay his debts.

It was decided that Petzetakis will be tried by the magistrate’s court. However, the trial is expected to be postponed as the defendant will ask for extra time in order to bring proof to court and brace his claims.
