“Papaconstantinou ‘magnified’ the deficit aiming at taking measures”

Shocking accusations from a member of the country’s Statistical Service

Zoe Georganta, member of the managerial council of the Hellenic Statistic Service accused the former finance minister of Greece, George Papaconstantinou of “forging” the country’s deficit because he wanted to take harsh measures. Mrs Georganta underlines that, anyway, the final data concerning the national financial situation are not finalized by the government but by Eurostat, which as a matter of fact did participate in this fraud by supporting the ex-minister.

“The Greek deficit for 2009 stood at 12%, however after pressure from the president of the Eurostat service, Walter Radermacher, that year’s report contained data also from the country’s public organizations not supposed to be included in it”, explains Georganta.

And goes on saying that, “they were telling us to keep our mouths shut because the situation in Greece was crucial… Papaconstantinou did not want us to act as an independent body”.

Further on she admitted that council has not met over a year, now and that all 11 members of it have signed none of the decisions supposedly supervised exclusively by the president of the service, Andreas Georgiou.

“We are under German occupation” said Georganta, characteristically.
