Disposable income of Greek households decline 10.6% in 3Q 2012

 The disposable income of Greek households was reduced by 10.6% in the third quarter of 2012, Greek Statistics Authority ELSTAT announced on Friday. Main reasons for the loss are: salary decreases by 11.3%, social welfare benefits decreases by 10.2% and income and wealth (a.o. property) tax increases at 17.7%.

 Disposable income is the amount of money that households have available for spending and saving after income taxes have been accounted for.
The final consumption expenditure of households and non-profit institutions serving households declined by 6.1% compared to the same quarter of the previous year, to 35.9 billion euros from 38.2 billion euros in 3Q 2011. (in.gr)
