Turmoil in the headquarters of the "Greek police" because of a picture posted on Facebook

"Here's SYRIZA’s new police" with Pakistanis in uniforms sitting on the background of an expensive yacht, costing tens of thousands of Euros.
This picture, posted in the social network by a policeman in charge of the office of the Minister of Civil Protection Eleftherios Ikonomou, prompted many questions and confusion in the Ministry and the "Greek police". In his account the close associate of the Minister ridicules one of the parties seeking to gain power, its leader - Tsipras and its members for wanting police, characteristic of the third world. The controversial photo, with "SYRIZA’s Pakistani police", was posted by the 32-year-old policeman on May 31.
Senior officials of the "Greek police" attribute an unacceptable number of events to the policeman such as "tactless treatment of dozens of officers from the ‘Greek police’”, while meanwhile asking questions about the origin of properties owned by him.

As they point out "the police officer in question has a super luxury car, yacht and lives in a four-story family house with a pool in the Athens suburb of Agios Stefanos, without the financial and professional information about him and his family justifying such purchases. On the other hand, he behaves arrogantly and even offensively to his superiors, while irreparably exposing the Minister of Civil Protection, who has always been behaving carefully and in a reserved manner. The same policeman was found to give orders through the Operations Centre to the "Greek police", as if he is a General.”
On the other hand, according to sources, the Minister of Civil Protection has expressed surprise at the strange behaviour and choice of his assistant.
Accusations of theft
Confusion in the ranks of the "Greek police" was caused by the behaviour of the 32-year-old policeman, who for many years has been one of the closest associates of the former head of the "Greek police" and the current Minister of Civil Defence.
According to reports by his colleagues, he was accused of stealing an expensive mobile phone while in police training school. The phone was stolen by another officer in the gym and was found on the 32-year-old police officer after a check of the special code ΙΜΕΙ in the device. During a brief investigation, charges were dropped, because he pointed out some psychological problems. Also there were other reports of the theft of a credit card and withdrawal of 700 Euros from the wallet of another trainee policeman, but in this case as well there weren’t any consequences. Thanks to a signal, an investigation was conducted in 2005, because it was found that the same policeman was working in a famous nightclub near "Piraeus" street. In this case, as well, no consequences followed, and his personal file remains clean.
Luxury living, impressive property
One of the issues, which has provoked many comments among employees of "Greek police" and the Ministry of Civil Defence, is the luxurious life and spectacular properties of the young policeman. He owns a luxury 3500 cc car and on his Facebook page he shows a "Scorpion" yacht with two engines, named "Captain...." (and his first name) worth tens of thousands of Euros and which seems to have been bought second hand. The yacht purchase is listed in the 2010 tax return of a relative of his.
When in the past the young policeman was asked about his financial situation the young policeman, the answer was that this was due to the sound financial condition and earnings of other family members.
On further investigation of the financial situation of his family, however, a number of new issues arose. Another member of his family was an ordinary police officer, who has served in various positions in Piraeus, as well as in the economic police, whose sole income was a monthly salary of a uniformed policeman without a rank. The same former policeman, was having a personal or family relationship with two members of New Democracy in Piraeus. Another member of the 32-year-old policeman’s family was working as an employee in a shop without any additional income.
However, shortly after the retirement of the relative (in 1997), the family of the 32-year-old policeman moved into the four-story house with a pool and a total area of 324 sq.m. in Agios Stefanos, near "Marathonos" Avenue. The retired police officer has come to be the owner of four cars, two of which are very expensive. Also, in certain years, like 2007 and 2010, his tax returns show that he was receiving amounts in the range of 60,000 to 80,000 Euros, which are supposed to justify the purchases of cars, a pool, yacht and more...
Several officers from the "Greek police" have filed numerous complaints about the "degrading behaviour" of the 32-year-old policeman. As they say "towards senior officers he behaves in an unacceptable manner and in violation of any hierarchy. He would appear in the Directorate "Security" with his luxury car without licence plates, and many times he has given personal orders to the police force! Indeed, he was supporting Eleftherios Ikonomou in the management of the "Greek police" and the Ministry. However, this cannot justify everything... ".
