The curious thing is that traditionally Greeks are used to voting for the parties their parents voted for. It was part of Greek family tradition to vote for their grandparents’ and later for the parents’ favorite party over and over, I dare to say. Consequently, it is really astonishing that not even his relatives voted for Mr Miltiades Tzalazides.
His pre-election statements did not attract many voters it seems, despite his promises to offer his potential voters free plot of land in return. But what is this party called, you ask? It is called (hold your breath) “Independent Refreshing Left, Refreshing Right, Refreshing PASOK, Refreshing New Democracy, Say No to War, Party-Business ‘I give free plots’, ‘I help you get rid of your debts’, ‘I save lives’, Greece’s pan-agricultural workers’ party PAEKE.”
No, this is not a joke! It is the actual title of this strange party which received 299 votes in the May 6th elections. Probably, these voters confused Tzalazides’ party with Panos Kammenos’ Independent Greeks.
